Lions Club honor Blind Skier volunteers

The Deep Creek Lions club sponsor blind skiers every year from the Maryland School of the Blind.  They honor them with a banquet at the end of the program.  Local teens from Northern High School and a couple from Southern High help the skiers down the hill and with their lunches.  The high schoolers enjoy it and the skiers like hanging with them.  The stories they have at the end of the day are priceless.  I’m glad to be a […]

Reaching for the stars

The USASA Appalachian and Maryland Open was at the Wisp Resort.  Young boarders and skiers looked to take home the gold in this sanctioned event.   It ranged from free style terrain park tricks at the bottom of Face to downhill Boarding Cross on Little Dipper on North Camp.

Burton Rail Jam at Wisp

I stopped by Wisp last night to find the Burton Rail Jam was winding up.  Some of my daughters friends were participating in the Jamfest, so I thought I would bust out the camera and try to capture some of the nonstop action.  These kids RAWKed this terrain park.   They had three heats and the best two runs were calculated.  Top three from each category won some narly Burton gear.  You can see and order prints from my gallery page […]
